Garage Cleanouts in Sonora, CA
Garages, sheds and attics emptied down to the floor and swept, with the things you want kept set aside first.
A garage cleanout is when we clear the whole space instead of a few items. You tell us what stays, we set it aside, and the crew carries out everything else, loads it and sweeps the floor. Sheds and attics work the same way. A 16-foot trailer piled high is typically $700 to $1,000, dump fees included, and you do not need to be home for a garage or a shed as long as it is clear what goes and payment is arranged.
What comes out of a garage
- Boxes, bins and bags of old things
- Old furniture, mattresses and appliances
- Broken tools, bikes and exercise equipment
- Scrap metal, lumber and shelving you do not want
- Shed and attic storage
- Electronics and old TVs, for recycling
Good to know before we come
- Mark what stays with tape, or make a short list. We go through it before loading starts.
- Paint, fuel, pesticides and propane tanks often turn up in garages. They do not go in a junk load; we set them aside and tell you where each one goes.
- You do not need to be there for a garage or a shed, as long as it is clear what goes and payment is arranged.
- Photos of the whole space from the door, plus anything heavy, are usually enough for a price.
How much does a garage cleanout cost in Sonora?
A garage cleanout is priced by how much of the trailer it fills. A 16-foot trailer piled high is typically $700 to $1,000, dump fees included, and bigger jobs can take more than one load.
Smaller jobs, such as one corner of the garage, are priced on site or from photos, and a few items usually run $200 to $400.
What moves the price
- How many trailer loads the space fills
- Items the transfer station charges extra for: tires, mattresses, and fridges or freezers
- Heavy material such as concrete or drywall
- A shed or a second garage on the same property
| A few items | $200 to $400 |
|---|---|
| Part of a trailer, such as one corner | Priced on site or from photos |
| One 16-foot trailer piled high | $700 to $1,000 |
Dump fees are included in every price. You hear one flat price before anything is loaded.
Where it all goes
Everything is sorted on the way out. Household junk goes to the Cal Sierra Transfer Station in East Sonora, metal goes to recycling, and any green waste goes to a green waste site. Fridges, freezers and mattresses are declared at the scale house, where the station charges its own fees for them.
Nothing is dumped on a back road. If you want to know where your load went, ask. Our guide to where junk goes after pickup explains why it matters.

Garage cleanout questions
Do I need to be home for a garage cleanout?
Not for a garage or a shed, as long as it is clear what goes and payment is arranged. For anything inside the house we would rather you, or someone you trust, be there.
Will you sweep when you are done?
Yes. Sweeping the emptied space is part of every cleanout.
What happens to the things I want to keep?
We agree on them before loading starts and set them aside first. Nothing goes on the trailer until you have said it can.
What about old paint and chemicals?
They do not go in a junk load. We set them aside and tell you where each one goes; most go to the county's Jamestown drop-off, by appointment. See what stays out of a junk load.
