How Much Does Junk Removal Cost in Tuolumne County? (2026 Prices)

Junk removal in Tuolumne County usually costs $200 to $400 for a few items and $700 to $1,000 for a 16-foot trailer piled high, with dump fees included in our price. Two things move the number: how much of the trailer your pile fills, and what is in it. Concrete, tires, mattresses, and fridges or freezers cost more because the transfer station charges more for them.

Typical junk removal prices in Tuolumne County

These are our prices around Sonora and the rest of Tuolumne County. Every price includes the crew, the loading, the drive and the dump fees.

Job Typical price What it looks like
A few items $200 to $400 A couch and an old treadmill, a table and a recliner
Part of a trailer Priced on site or from photos A garage corner, a shed's worth of boxes
A 16-foot trailer piled high $700 to $1,000 Above the sides, front to back
A whole house or cabin Priced by the number of loads A cleanout can take more than one trailer

We give you one flat price before anything is loaded. It does not change because a staircase was slow or the garage was tight, because we price by the job, not by the hour.

What moves the price: how much you have

Volume is the biggest factor. With a couple of items you are paying mostly for the crew to come out, carry them and drive them away. With a full trailer you are paying for more labor, more fuel and a bigger dump bill.

That is why the low end starts around $200 even for one or two things: most of a small job's price covers the crew's trip out to your property in the first place.

What moves the price: what is in the pile

The transfer station charges by weight and by item type, and some items carry their own fees. These are the ones that push a Tuolumne County price up.

Fridges, freezers and air conditioners

Anything with refrigerant has to be declared at the transfer station, which charges a Freon removal fee. In California only a certified appliance recycler or a certified refrigerant technician may remove refrigerant, so we haul the appliance and the transfer station handles it. Water or gas lines need to be disconnected before we arrive.

Mattresses and box springs

The Cal Sierra Transfer Station in Sonora takes mattresses for a fee, so a mattress adds to the price. Two ways to save: the Groveland Transfer Station takes mattresses at no charge, and the county's monthly drop-off in Jamestown takes them free for residents. If you are buying a new mattress, California law requires the retailer to offer to take the old one when the new one is delivered.

Tires

Cal Sierra and Groveland take tires for a fee. California also caps how many you can carry: hauling 10 or more used tires takes a waste tire hauler registration from CalRecycle, so a big tire pile can mean more than one trip. When grant money is available, the county holds tire amnesty collection days in April and October.

TVs, computers and other electronics

Electronics cannot go in the trash in California. Cal Sierra and Groveland take them, and the county notes there may be a gate fee. The county's monthly Jamestown event takes e-waste free for residents.

Concrete, rock and heavy debris

Heavy loads cost more because disposal is by weight. Brick, concrete and rock go to Cal Sierra's Earth Resource Facility on Camage Avenue for a fee, and it does not take concrete with rebar or pieces larger than 18 inches.

Railroad ties and other treated wood

Railroad ties, old fence posts and pressure-treated lumber are treated wood waste in California, with their own handling rules: kept separate, never burned or chipped. The county's free dump coupon does not cover it. Tell us about treated wood before the job so we can price it honestly.

How junk removal companies charge

You will run into three pricing styles when you call around:

  1. By the job. One flat number for the whole pile, given before loading. This is how we price.
  2. By the load. A set price for a quarter, half or full truck, decided by how full it ends up.
  3. By the hour. Rare for junk removal, because fuel, dump fees and loading time are hard to predict.

No style is automatically cheaper. Ask each company what is included, especially dump fees, and get two or three prices for the same pile.

What our price includes

  • The crew to carry and load everything, so nobody at the house lifts anything
  • The drive to the transfer station, and the dump fees
  • Sorting: green waste to a green waste site, metal to recycling, trash to the transfer station
  • Teardown of hot tubs, sheds and playsets when the job needs it
  • Raking or sweeping up where the pile sat

Ways to spend less

  1. Use the county coupon for a small load. Tuolumne County's 2026 Keep Tuolumne Clean coupon covers one free 2 cubic yard trip to Cal Sierra, one per household. Our guide to Tuolumne County free dump coupons explains what it covers.
  2. Drop off mattresses and electronics for free at the county's monthly Jamestown event, or mattresses at the Groveland Transfer Station.
  3. Put everything in one visit. One trailer load costs less than two half-loads on different days.
  4. Send photos. A price from photos saves an extra trip and makes the number more accurate.

How to get an accurate price from photos

Take one wide photo of the whole pile with something for scale in it, like a car or a doorway, and close-ups of anything heavy or unusual: a fridge, a pile of concrete, a hot tub. Note any stairs or a long carry. Attach up to three photos to the estimate form, or call (209) 213-1324. We call back, usually within the hour.
