Accessibility Statement

Our aim

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. That is the standard we build and check this site against. It is an aim, not a promise that every page meets it today.

What the site does

• a "Skip to content" link at the top of every page
• headings, page regions and form labels that screen readers can follow
• every link, button, menu, tab and form field works with a keyboard, with a visible outline on the one you are on
• the photo viewer opens from the keyboard, closes with the Escape key and puts you back where you were
• required form fields are marked in words, and form messages are read out by screen readers
• text and buttons are checked for contrast against the background they sit on
• photos carry a short text description, and decorative icons are hidden from screen readers
• pages reflow when you zoom in and work on a phone
• nothing on the site moves by itself, and the site follows your device's reduce motion setting
• links that open a new tab say so to screen readers

How we check it

We test pages with automated contrast and markup checks and by hand with a keyboard, on a phone and on a computer, and we check again when the site changes.

Known limits

Our guides link to county and state websites and documents that we do not control. If one of them does not work for you, call us and we will give you the same information another way.

If something does not work for you

We will fix it where we can, and in the meantime give you the same information over the phone or set up your estimate on the call. You never need the website to get an estimate: a phone call works just as well.
