Appliance Removal in Sonora, CA
Fridges, freezers, washers, dryers and other old appliances carried out and hauled, with the transfer station's fees in the price.
We carry old appliances out of the kitchen, the laundry room or the garage, load them and haul them to the Cal Sierra Transfer Station in East Sonora. Fridges, freezers and air conditioners are declared at the scale house, which charges a Freon removal fee, so they cost a little more than a washer or a dryer. Water and gas lines need to be disconnected before we arrive. A few items usually run $200 to $400, dump fees included.
Appliances we haul
- Refrigerators, and chest or upright freezers
- Washers and dryers
- Window and portable air conditioners
- Stoves, ovens and dishwashers
- Microwaves
- The old fridge in the garage, or the dead freezer in the shed
Good to know before we come
- Water and gas lines need to be disconnected before we arrive.
- Empty the fridge or freezer of food first.
- We haul a fridge with its refrigerant still in it. In California only a certified appliance recycler or a certified refrigerant technician may remove refrigerant, so the transfer station handles it.
- Some RV and off-grid cabin fridges are absorption (ammonia) models, which Tuolumne County sites do not take. Tell us if yours might be one.
How much does appliance removal cost in Sonora?
Fridges, freezers and air conditioners cost a little more than other appliances, because the transfer station charges a Freon removal fee for each one. The fee amount is not published, so we fold it into one flat price before we load.
A few items usually run $200 to $400, and a fridge or freezer in the load adds the Freon fee. A 16-foot trailer piled high is typically $700 to $1,000, dump fees included.
What moves the price
- How many of the appliances have refrigerant: fridges, freezers and air conditioners
- How much of the trailer the load fills
| A few items | $200 to $400 |
|---|---|
| A fridge, freezer or air conditioner | Adds the Freon fee |
| A 16-foot trailer piled high | $700 to $1,000 |
Dump fees are included in every price. You hear one flat price before anything is loaded.
Where old appliances go
Appliances go to the Cal Sierra Transfer Station at 19309 Industrial Drive in East Sonora. Fridges, freezers and air conditioners are declared at the scale house, where the station charges its Freon removal fee and handles the refrigerant. Metal goes to recycling.
If you haul it yourself, the county's 2026 Keep Tuolumne Clean coupon covers up to two bulky items such as appliances on one free trip to Cal Sierra, but the county says Freon appliances still carry the Freon removal fee. See our guide to Tuolumne County free dump coupons.
